Undersheriff Colleen Walker

Undersheriff Walker has been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for over thirty years as inspired by her Father and his dedication as an officer to the department.

Undersheriff Walker began her career as a dispatcher with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in 1979. After being sworn in as a sheriff’s deputy in late 1980, she has promoted through the sworn ranks in the
Coachella Valley, serving as a detective, sergeant and lieutenant in patrol operations. As a captain, she commanded both the Indio Jail and later the Indio Sheriff’s Station, serving as the Chief of Police for both the cities of La Quinta and Coachella.

Undersheriff Walker was appointed as Chief Deputy in January 2008, and oversaw personnel, recruiting, training and countywide dispatch operations. During that assignment she was instrumental in making recruiting gains for the Sheriff’s Department within ethnic and gender minorities to meet Sheriff Sniff’s goals in increasing diversity.
Undersheriff Walker was then appointed to Assistant Sheriff in July 2009 and assumed her current position as Undersheriff in July 2010.
